We are requiring all guests (2+) + staff to wear a face covering, and implementing enhanced cleaning procedures. We have also made some adjustments to the exhibits to reduce risk of transmission of the virus via repeated touching of objects or buttons. Additionally, on some of our exhibits with loose parts, we are replacing loose materials throughout the day to allow for sanitizing of parts in our back-of-house maintenance areas. Some exhibits or experiences where procedures like this are not possible to implement will be closed temporarily.
We have taken our standard procedures (informed by best practices of similar museums across the country) and increased the frequency and nature of cleaning to meet the guidelines for museums provided by the State of California. This means that in addition to dedicated janitorial staff cleaning regularly touched surfaces throughout the museum throughout the day, floor staff will also be sanitizing frequently touched surfaces on their assigned floor and replacing loose materials at exhibits throughout the day to allow for sanitizing of parts in our back-of-house maintenance areas. All surfaces and restrooms will be cleaned at regular intervals throughout the day. MOXI will be fully sanitized every evening after guests have been in the building. All cleaning products used on the various surfaces found throughout MOXI are disinfectants approved by the CDC.
If we are informed by either a guest themselves or the County Health Department (via contact tracing efforts) that someone who visited the museum has tested positive for COVID-19, we will either contact the County Health Department or work with them to provide contact info for others potentially impacted and comply with any further recommendations from the County Health Department.
If a staff member tests positive for COVID-19, we will report the case to the County Health Department and comply with all requests related to contact tracing. We will determine all areas of the museum in which they have worked within a two-week period of their positive test result and which other staff they had close and/or sustained contact with. Any staff found to have had close or sustained contact with the infected staff member will be asked to self-isolate at home for two weeks or until they receive a negative test result, and will be granted sick leave. Depending on vaccination status, these practices may be adjusted per guidance from the CDC. If it is determined that a staff member may have had sustained contact with a member of public, all guests who are potentially impacted will be contacted via information provided at the time of making a reservation or purchasing a ticket.

They typical visit to MOXI is about 1.5-2 hours, though is subject to change depending on how many races you want to run on the race track, designs you want to create on Light Patterns, or how motivated you are to break the record of 40+ loops on the Roll It wall marble roller coaster challenge. In other words, you can play as long as you want (until 5 PM)!
